There are new changes to B.C.’s Employment Standards Act when it comes to serious illness and injury leave. If you have a medical certificate from a doctor or nurse practitioner, you can now take as many as 27 weeks of unpaid, job-protected leave within a 12-month period to undergo medical treatment and focus on recovery.
An employer cannot terminate you or change your conditions of employment as a result of this leave!
